Animator
As an assistant animator on The Inventor feature film, one of my tasks was to test puppets and make sure the joints in the armatures were properly secured before handing them to the animators. Oscar was the go to person if there was a problem with the armatures. He had blueprints of the characters carefully organised and easy to find.
He knew every joint in every armature down to a tee. So I could always rely on him to fix and tweak the puppets as they needed to be. We was also good company in the studio and kept an upbeat vibe. Always finding ways to bring people together. I was glad to have worked with him. |

Oscar’s ability always to come up with effective solutions whenever a problem needs to be solved during animation process is amazing, indeed. I have worked along with him on two big feature films and can easily say that as a puppet builder and maintainer Oscar is a remarkable professional. He is also very friendly and helpful to everyone in the crew – he can always be relied on whenever planning or assistance is needed, and he pays attention even to the tiniest detail.
I would work happily with him on many more projects and I wish him to keep being inspired in his artwork. He is the puppet wizard and the rainbow above of all the unicorns! |

The Inventor is a feature animated project that had a large number of puppets to the order of 78.
Puppet building starts in the armature department. Oscar´s leadership skills in planning, communicate with all levels of the production is his talent. Added to this difficulty is that our production was in France and he did not speak French. He was extra careful with explanations and guidance to his fellow crew mates. He can build anything. My first week on the project in 2021, I witnessed Oscar´s role of Lead armature. He was building the metal skeletons that are individual to each character and managing his crew. Every armature is a unique piece of art. He had the foresight to budget, plan and create a schedule of the time and cost it would take to design and build each armature. Multiples of the characters had to be considered so he made sure to allow for Separate units, in the case of our hero, Leonardo Da Vinci, we planned on 8 finished puppets.

Oscar Rodriguez, comes up with the right development for our set design. He invests the time necessary to build incredible fantasy props for the film industry.
Not many artists do this, and it shows! Oscar followed the designs I gave him to the dot and his team work abilities and input were top of the line. Oscar has been working as a freelance designer for FANTASIATION, as a Master Prop Maker for a year. During this time, I have been consistently impressed by both his design skills and his professionalism and commitment to our animated stop-motion film. He is our star Prop Master and you will be fascinated by his expertise. As a person his charisma is contagious, I recommend him saying that his work and dedication is outstanding, you can trust Oscar for your next film project. |

Oscar is both a highly professional artist and an enthusiastic and supportive colleague for his fellow crew member. He gets things done, but never without knowing everything is exactly how it should be. His attention to detail strengthens the overall result of every character and scene, but it also sharpen the focus of everyone else involved. Oscar is that rare mix of a creative soul an organized mind, and I highly recommend him. |

Director of animation / Animator Having worked with Oscar as both Animation Director and Animator on two feature films, I have experienced him and his work in two very different capacities.
Oscar is very attentive to the needs and wishes of production, he was a vital part of the discussions surrounding the requirements and solutions we had to either puppets or animatable props. He is able to choose the to builds in cost-effective ways without ever sacrificing either quality or functionality, fulfilling the needs of both designer and animator. |
One of Oscars props I had the pleasure of working with directly was a concertina for one of our smallest puppets. It was a prop we knew would be a challenge to build due to its size and need to be constantly handled, but it was solved beautifully with impeccable craftsmanship and was a dream to animate.
Oscar is a talented and knowledgeable prop- and puppet-maker and a very nice and funny person to be around. I would highly recommend Oscar for any stop-motion production.

I had the joy of working alongside Oscar, and he is truly one of those talented artists who not only have an amazing eye for aesthetics but also in depth knowledge in all the technical aspects of his job. He is professional to his finger tips, with a great eye for details and an amazing capability to still have the overview.
His totally sweet, gentle and humble character makes you feel as if you’re working alongside your old friend, even when you just met him. I would absolutely love to get a chance to work with Oscar again, and I can gladly recommend this puppet wizard! - Ragnhild Prestholt |
